Kiehne Wealth & Retirement is an independent financial advisory firm serving clients throughout New Mexico. Founded in 2003, we have developed our business by reaching out, nurturing and maintaining close, trusting relationships with each of our clients.
Shawn is proud to be independent of any of the typical "big box" financial companies. Shawn is affiliated with several boutique money managers who use tactical strategies instead of the traditional "buy and hold" model. As a Series 65 licensed advisor, Shawn is obligated to adhere to the fiduciary standard, which means he must provide advice and solutions for his clients. Shawn also holds his life and health insurance license and has been in the financial services industry since 2003.
A lifelong New Mexican, Shawn credits much of his work ethic and success to his family. His family roots extend to Germany, and in the mid 1800's his ancestors settled near Reserve, New Mexico, and took up cattle ranching, a tradition that continues today. Growing up, Shawn learned the value of hard work and discipline while working at the ranch. Shawn's parents, Max and Cherie Kiehne, are real estate developers in Los Lunas and have owned Centerfire Real Estate for over 40 years. Shawn is proud to mention his dad has been on the cover of New Mexico Business Magazine and was voted Valencia County Citizen of the Year several years ago. His mom has been a group leader for Bible Study Fellowship for many years.
"My parents taught me early on that your reputation is everything in business," says Shawn. "They stressed the importance of always doing the right thing for the client no matter what".
Outside of work, Shawn has also been quite successful in the Spanish music industry, using the stage name alter ego of "El Gringo." He is one of the more popular performers in the state, with frequent shows at large music festivals and casinos. Thanks to a record deal with Hispanic media giant Univision, his music has gained national and international recognition. He has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, People Magazine, New Mexico Magazine and The Albuquerque Journal. He has also performed before millions on popular Spanish TV shows including “Sabado Gigante,” “Don Francisco Presenta” and “Despierta America.”
Shawn has been happily married to his wife, Ada, for 20 years. The couple met while Shawn was studying Spanish for a semester in Mexico. Ada is the seminar marketing coordinator for Kiehne Wealth & Retirement, and she is also the founder of I Love Living, a nonprofit organization focused on helping at-risk teens. Shawn and Ada reside in Los Lunas with their three children, Brett, Tyler and Kamila. They attend and are active at Legacy Church in Albuquerque.
